Custom, Hand-Crafted, Professional Bassoon Reeds
I am pleased to announce the inception of Dovetail Reeds, a new bassoon reed company based on the Southern California coast. Founded by bassoonist Dr. Amy Gillick, Dovetail was designed to provide an alternative source of reeds to the most discerning bassoonists.
Dovetail reeds are "plug-and-play", with no need for additional adjustment or finishing. In my experience, even the most expensive store-bought reeds have to be adjusted until they will play at a satisfactory level. Unfortunately, most of these store brands do not play in tune and are incapable of producing a pianissimo dynamic. I make Dovetail reeds with the same exacting standards I use when making reeds for myself. You will notice the difference when you are able to play and love these reeds immediately!
Currently, there is a two-week wait for most orders.
